15 year old Micky does it all – sing, compose, arrange and produce. Born in Trinidad, living in Europe, recording his album in San Diego, CA, this kid, whose vocal range spans over 4 ½ octaves, is destined to make space for himself in the music industry.

Starting at the end of 2004, WCH Radio & Next Step Promotions instituted the annual "WCH Radio Artist Of The Year" This year we have chosen Micky as our 2004 "Artist Of The Year"

14 year old Micky, is from Waterloo, Belgium, and speaks both French and English.

"I was impressed with Micky's above average interest in his musical career", according to John O'Day, CEO of WCH Radio.

Micky has developed his own brand, keeps up with how his song "Hazardous" is charting on our station, which is available on CD Baby, and is also available as a ring tone and real tone. He has his own website (www.mickymusic.com), and has developed his own promotional items (via Cafepress). Says O'Day.

The Artist Of The Year is a new category for WCH Radio & Next Step Promotions, and we are very proud to present Micky with this award. This is also one of several features we plan to add to the station in 2005. O?Day said.

1. Where are you from? What's the music scene like there?

I am from Trinidad and Tobago which is a Caribbean island but I live in Belgium which is located at the heart of Europe. In Belgium there is a lot of Euro-Pop, Rock and R&B right now

2. How old are you? At what age did you decide to start singing?

I am 13 years old but have been singing since the age of 2 or 3. I have been writing songs since the age of 8 and creating tracks since I was 12.

3. How did you get started making music? Who are your inspirations? What makes you

different from other people in your genre?

I first began creating music when I was about 12 and by doing everything on a computer. I was simply trying it out but got very interested in it and it all led on from there. My inspirations include Evanescence, Usher and Linkin Park.
The element which makes me different from other artists in my genre is that I produce a much younger teen voice while many others will create solo-instrumentals or dance-numbers only. Also, most other people in my genre are adults, while I'm only 13.

4. I've noticed that you have quite an array of Micky collectibles on your website (the Micky store). Who designs the merchandise?

For all of the merchandise to reflect me, I have designed the merchandise myself in ways such as which products I would have available for retail, which graphics/text will be on the merchandise and where the graphics/text would be placed.

5. Where do you see yourself five years from now? Do you have any other hobbies or interests outside of music?

In 5 years, I see myself still making music but may change genre over the years and be further than where I am now.
My hobbies are Track & Field, Tae Kwon Do and acting which I may become more serious about later.

6. Do you write all of your own material? Do you collaborate with others? What is the recording process/ song writing process like for you?

For my released songs, I write all of the material so that I can fully relate to them but I collaborate with other artists for their songs with matters such as songwriting and production..

For me, the songwriting process first begins by writing a chorus. As soon as the chorus is complete, I can easily find a great and suitable melody in my head for the chorus. I create music this way as opposed to how most artists create the melody first.

The recording process is my favorite part of it all. First, I first have the instruments arranged and performed to how I would like it done, then I spend a few hours practicing the song with my vocal coach, afterwards I enter the studio, stay cool and record the tracks.

7. How is the new album coming along?

The completed parts of the album are great. I'm really excited for it all to be done but because of certain reasons work has been delayed on it. I should be back to work on the album around Christmas and I'm really looking forward to it. It should be out around the first half of next year. I feel that it will give a different vibe than my first album did as this one uses less electronically-produced sounds. The only song which is partly techno is called "Hazardous" and is out as a single right now. I think the new sound suits me much better.

Hi, I recently bought this CD expecting this to sound like a wannabe kid... Who would have thought that I would be so wrong! I live in England and people who live in my community are CRAZY about Micky! How? It all started when I played this CD at my 12th birthday party! The tracks are AWSOME... I especially LOVED "Move Your Feet"! A GREAT Dance song! Micky if you ever read this, then expect to get a lot of sales from my friends here. I heard his new song Hazardous... Awesome... I have this CD with me all the time, and your new single Hazardos is already on it's way to me in the mail! I give this cd 2 thums up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Micky's CD is great the first time i listened to (PLAY ALL SONGS) on this web site i could belive it i had to GET OFF OF MY CHARE AND START DANCEING!!!! the song are great for PARTIES, and also listening to it home by yourself,,,you jest gotta dance. Micky really knows when to sing high, low, and ever loud. This CD is //***incredibly awesome//*** you have to buy it to belive it....!!!!!!!! Incradibly talented

Wow. When I bought this CD I got it so quick with CDBaby, and suddenly popped the CD into my computer's CD drive which is hooked up to a 5.1 surround sound system. As soon as it started playing, I WAS IMPRESSED! People should take my advice and look at Micky twice! I LOVE tracks like Everybody, Come back, Yes or No and especially the rythmic Move Your Feet! Good Job Micky! I Know you've got a good future ahead of you!
